Tibet, the Olympic Torch, Protestors, and the Library

In our Library, ceiling mounted televisions on each floor run the CNN channel from morning to evening. For several weeks now we’ve seen dozens of images of protestors disrupting the procession of the Olympic Torch as it travels around the world.
Questions overheard from students pausing to watch the TVs include "Are they trying to steal the torch ?” “ Why are they against the Olympics ?” “ Has this ever happened before ?"
The Olympic Games to be held this year in China are politically charged due to issues which include civil rights (or lack of) for Chinese citizens, and the issue of Tibetan nationalism and subjugation to Chinese domination.
How has the carrying of the Olympic torch been affected? What other actions might be taken? What is going on in Tibet and China ?
